The Joseph and Alma Gildenhorn Institute for Israel Studies sponsor Krav Maga, an explosive combative street-fighting!  Come and watch black-belt experts demonstrate the hand-to-hand combat system of Krav Maga, developed in Israel and used by Israeli Defense Forces.

The Joseph and Alma Gildenhorn Institute for Israel Studies present the Tel Aviv Graffiti Mural.  Street Art: you’ve seen it, now help make it! Come and help create a community mural and watch a visiting artist from Artists4Israel create a Mural for Peace.

The Office of Student Affairs will be located under the ARHU tent on McKeldin Mall.  Meet students and advisors from the College of Arts and Humanities to learn how you can explore your passion, discover your purpose and feed your creativity through academic majors and other opportunities in the college.


Around the World in 40 Languages

The National Foreign Language Center offers a way to travel.  Using our green screen photo booth, have your picture taken in front of the country of your choice and then send an e-postcard to friends and family!


Write Your Name in Greek, Latin and More!
All Day
The School of Languages, Literatures, and Cultures and Department of Classics are offering their language skills to the community.  Stop by to learn how to write your name and introduce yourself in a variety of languages including Greek, Japanese, Russian, and More!


Philosophical Advice: $.05

The philosopher from the Department of Philosophy is in. Bring your philosophical questions to members of our philosophy department. Nickels are free.


Playing the Past

Learn more about the Maryland Institute for Technology in the Humanities (MITH). Get involved with retro gaming consoles and talk with students about the research projects we have involving the preservation of video games.

Have your name written in beautiful calligraphy.  Learn how to say hello in Arabic and Persian. Savor some Middle Eastern foods.  Find out more about the Arabic and Persian Language Flagship programs at UM.  Meet current Flagship students.

The School of Languages, Literatures, and Cultures and the Language House are offering visitors the world of languages.  Join the Language House for an exploration of international cultures of ten different languages and participate in cross-cultural activities.

African American Storytelling Circle All Day
David C. Driskell Center, 1207 Cole Student Activities Building
The Department of American Studies hosts storytellers from the Lakeland Community Heritage Project in College Park.  Hear residents talk about the historic community of Lakeland and learn how to start your own neighborhood history by collecting oral histories and family photographs.

An Exhibition: "Limited Editions: Joseph Holston Prints, 1974-2010, A Retrospective"David C. Driskell Center, 1207 Cole Student Activities Building

Visit the David C. Driskell Center to enjoy the "Limited Editions: Joseph Holston Prints, 1974-2010, A Retrospective " exhibition, co-curated by Dr. Robert E. Steele, Executive Director of the David C. Driskell Center and Elisabeth Hodermarsky, the Sutphin Family Associate Curator of Prints, Drawings, and Photographs at the Yale University Art Gallery.  The exhibition highlights more than 40 years of graphic work by Holston whose colorful style ranges from figurative to cubist abstractionist.

Work with the Art Gallery staff to design your very own art exhibition! Use digital images of the gallery’s current collection to create your own digital show.
Now Playing: The Red Balloon, for the young and young at heart 12:30 - 1:30 PM

Bring the kids to the collaboratory to experience the movie The Red Balloon in an environment like that of an IMAX theater.  This movie short will play every 15 minutes.
Virtual D.C. Latino Tour 2 - 3:30 PM

Take an electronic field trip to this Latino-themed, student produced tour of Washington, D.C., commemorating landmarks, monuments, memorials and more of the Latino community in the United States. Sponsored by the School of Languages, Literatures, and Cultures and the Department of American Studies
