Catalina Chervin

Described by the artist in terms of a "never ending quest," the masterful works on paper created by Catalina Chervin seem to radiate with emotion that extends beyond their two-dimensional surface. Created primarily in pen, pencil, and charcoal, the pieces are painstakingly detailed, inviting close observation (and often introspection) by their viewers. Although essentially abstract, Chervin's works frequently invoke bodily associations, whether through sinuous or organic graphic forms, or as a result of the sensation of space created by the artist's masterful application of light and dark shadows.
Since graduating from the Argentine National School of Fine Arts Ernesto de la Cárcova, Chervin has worked with numerous master draftsmen and print workshops, and in 2004 and again in 2015, she received a Fellowship in Visual Arts from the prestigious Pollock-Krasner Foundation (New York).
Chervin's drawings are held in such international collections as The Victoria & Albert Museum, London; The New York Public Library; the Art Museum of the Americas, Washington D.C.; Museo de Arte Contemporáneo, Buenos Aires, among others.
