What do coffee and art have in common? Conversation.
Lost Sock Roasters has partnered with the University of Maryland Art Gallery to present the work of DC-based artist Yvette Kraft (b. 1946). Kraft uses drawing as a mechanism for first-hand exploration and investigation of her immediate environment.
According to the artist, her goal "is to understand various human beings and how they differ" through the act of drawing. Kraft’s well-developed drawings of community members capture their personalities and humanity through her skillful use of line and color. She has a unique ability of focusing on the essence of her subjects, whether they are friends, family, or strangers. These drawings are not just depictions of people, but also convey a sense of intimacy and emotional connection between the artist and her subjects.
